DESCRIPTION:
As this Thanksgiving approaches, too many of the folks affected by Katrina still haven't received any of the help their government promised them. A bill in Congress would start to deliver on those promises. But Senator David Vitter is standing in the way of any progress. He's blocking the bill, S. 1668, from moving forward, but won't even offer an alternative.

So, tomorrow morning, MoveOn members are joining with members of Color of Change, Brave New Foundation, and a coalition of local groups on the ground in Louisiana to deliver 168,000 petition signatures to Sen. Vitter's office in Metairie. Can you join us?

Here are the details:

What: Petition Delivery and Press Conference
When: Tuesday, Nov. 20th, 10 a.m.
Where: 2800 Veterans Blvd.
Metairie, LA 70002 (map)

The event will feature some great speakers, Katrina survivors, and over 4000 pages of petition signatures. In order to put as much pressure as possible on Sen. Vitter, we're inviting the media, so it's important that we have a good turnout. The whole event should last about an hour.

If you'd like to attend, but need a ride, you can contact Nathalie Walker at 504-453-6791.
