Social Justice and the Reconstruction of New Orleans A Delgado Community Forum to Commemorate Dr. King’s assassination

Forty years ago, while supporting the organizing efforts of sanitation workers in Memphis for respect and dignity, Dr. Martin Luther King was assassinated. On the eve of the 40th anniversary of his death, a forum will be held at Delgado Community College with various community organizations to address and discuss social justice, the reconstruction of New Orleans, and Dr. King’s legacy. The speakers will address what needs to be done with regard to public services in order to obtain a racially and economically equitable reconstruction of our community. A discussion will follow the presentation by various community organization representatives. This lecture is free and open to the public.
