Organizers' Roundtable at the CDF office on 1427 N. Broad St.
The discussion of this Roundtable will be focused on the local and national base-building and activism taking place under the banner of "Right to the City," which responds to gentrification and other forms of displacement by building a national movement for housing, education, health, racial justice, and democracy. In addition, we will also follow-up on specific state and federal housing legislation that were identified during the last Roundtable.
Here's the proposed agenda for the Organizers' Roundtable: 4:00 - 4:30: Buffet and Networking 4:30 - 6:00: "Right to the City" Discussion & Follow-up Information on Housing legislation 6:00 - 7:00: Updates and Solidarity-Builiding Your voice is needed in support of a city ordinance that establishes an independent monitor for the New Orleans Police Department. The City Council will vote on the ordinance on Thursday, July 10th. Please take the time now to contact your council representative and the at-large council members.
