Sales of Marx and Engels famous pamphlet, The Communist Manifesto, have increased by 65% over the past four months. In that same period, workers in Chicago occupied their factory to demand justice and won, after the anti-gay Prop 8 passed, people took to the streets to win equal rights, and every major city held protests against the massacre in Gaza. The pace of political events and the rapidly deteriorating economy are causing people to question long-held ideas about how capitalism works (and doesn’t) and how to win a better world. Marxism, both the theory and the practice, has the answers people are looking for.
