Public Meeting – Louisiana State University Academic Medical Center
Site-Specific Design & Construction Process
Meeting Date: Wednesday, April 29, 2009
Location: Grace Episcopal Church,
3700 Canal St, New Orleans, LA 70119
Time: 6:30 – 9:00 pm
The State of Louisiana, Office of Facility Planning and Control (the State), on behalf of Louisiana State University Academic Medical Center (LSU AMC) proposes to utilize Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) funding to construct the LSU AMC in New Orleans. In accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) FEMA hereby provides notice of the initiation of NEPA compliance activities for future actions associated with the LSU AMC site-specific design, construction, and operation.
On April 29, 2009, FEMA and the State will hold a public information meeting to present the design alternatives for the proposed LSU AMC. The purpose of this meeting is to engage the general public, local businesses, associations, affected governmental agencies and other interested parties to solicit relevant input and provide timely information regarding the design, construction, and operation of the LSU AMC at the selected site in the Tulane/Gravier area.
The public meeting will begin with an open house from 6:30 – 7:00 pm to allow interested parties to view the proposed design alternatives and talk directly to Federal and State representatives. At 7:00 pm, the Office of Facility Planning and Control and its design team will give a presentation, after which the audience will have an opportunity to ask questions and provide written or oral comments. Comments will be accepted until May 13, 2009 at 4:00 pm.
Public meetings are a critical element of FEMA and the State’s commitment to meeting their environmental compliance responsibilities. This meeting is being held in accordance with the requirements of NEPA and the Programmatic Environmental Assessment dated November 2008. The meeting provides the public and other interested parties with the opportunity to participate in the decision-making process and ensure that FEMA and the State consider comments regarding the impact of the proposed project design, construction, and operation on environmental resources.
Project information, including the conceptual design schemes/layouts for the proposed Medical Center, will soon be available at Comments can be submitted through this web address until May 13, 2009 at 4:00 pm.
