May Day 2009 Meeting In The Spirit of Working Class Struggle! HOW CAN THE WORKING CLASS OF NEW ORLEANS ESCAPE THE RACE TO THE ECONOMIC BOTTOM?
Can the long suffering working class of New Orleans escape what appears to be another disaster in the making? With local public services and working class organization at rock bottom, even in comparison to pre-Katrina New Orleans and America’s other major cities, people here are facing the worst national economic slump since the Great Depression. The cost of this slump to New Orleanians, if present conditions are left unchallenged, will far surpass the suffering inflicted on local folk as a result of earlier recessions. The one ray of hope for defending the standard of living of people in N.O. rests with the untapped power of the local working class to repulse the local and national elite’s plan dump the entire cost of the crisis on bottom 90%.
You are invited to participate in a very public discussion on what can be done to unleash working class resistance locally to defend the people’s standard of living in this time of crisis.
