STAND and Community Leaders
demand humane and equitable Evacuation Policy and Plan from the Louisiana State Department of Social Service and the City of New Orleans.
WHEN: Thursday, MAY 7th 2009
WHY: Hurricane Season is less than one month away and still Louisiana does not have an effective humane and equitable Evacuation Plan. STAND demands that a concrete evacuation plan and policy be in effect for June 1, 2009, from the State Department of Social Service, City Office of Emergency Preparation and Homeland Security, and the Louisiana National Guard.
WHERE: 1300 Perdido Street CITY HALL (main chamber)
TIME: 12:00pm (Front Steps of City Hall)
SHOW up, wear blue, and stand with STAND’s Leaders and community members.
Talk to your friends and neighbors about a Humane Evacuation Plan.
Invite them to come out, wear blue, and join us. Join STAND on May 7th and help to put a stop to the inhumane evacuation treatments and standards by affirming the rights of all Evacuees to:
· Transparency and direct accountability with all officials in authority. · Full preparation and emergency response plan prior to Hurricane Season. · Full inclusion and community participation in the Evacuation plans and decisions. · Humane conditions and Treatment during and after Hurricane Disaster · Humane security and safety service from all law enforcement officers and disaster relief staffers. · Healthy environment and sheltering standards within all disaster facilities and servicing stations.
Thank you for the support and alliance. If you have any questions or suggestions, just give us a call at 504-940-8389 (Tamar).
