WHO SHOULD HANO BE HIRING IN N.O.?

Is the Housing Authority of New Orleans obligated by federal law to hire low income residents in New Orleans for HUD funded contract work here? Mark Wilson, organizer for the Plasterers Union of the AFL-CIO, will address how the guidelines laid down in Section 3 of the U.S. Fair Housing Act are supposed to condition the employment practices of HUD funded contract work in post K. New Orleans. Specifically, Wilson will contrast what federal law requires in terms of hiring practices for HUD funded work with what are the actually existing hiring practices of HUD funded projects now underway in N.O.. A question and answer session will follow Wilson’s presentation. All are welcome.
