We're an action and intermediary collective organized to foment radical action, movement building, and services functioning on anti-authoritarian principles in New Orleans. So we facilitate anything from student strikes to money-free markets.
The collective was originally organized in responds to the BP gusher. We felt that New Orleans is a historical epicenter of commerce and culture for the region, and as such can serve a jump point for developing a free and democratic society. Rather than going to the coast and cleaning up the oil, we decided to use the individual skills we've developed around movement building to face a deep problem at the root of the gusher.
We feel that in order the address the spill and prevent the destruction and exploitation of our region and resources we need to address factors that allow those exploitations, namely the culture of greed, excess, and oppression. It was at this point we changed from a environmentalist reactionary committee to a movement building collective. We work with other groups, regardless of political ideology, to eject corruption from our city and assist in making a free New Orleans and a free Gulf.
We meet every Thursday at 8pm at the Iron Rail to network and organize. Come on by. Everyone is welcome, Democrats, Republicans, or none of the above.
