Housing is a human right, gentrification is not!
MARCH 4TH DAY OF RAGE IN NEW ORLEANS FOR AFFORDABLE HOUSING.
The human rights violations being carried out in the name of building a new New Orleans are every bit as worthy of condemnation and resistance as are the human rights violations that the Mubarak regime inflicted on Egyptians during its 30 year dictatorship. So in the dictatorship of profit driven greed that is New Orleans today almost four hundred public housing apartments in the Iberville Housing Development sit vacant while police seize the meager belongings of hundreds of homeless people living near the New Orleans Mission. These homeless people have made it clear that they would rather sleep in the streets than be forced to grapple with the substandard living conditions inside the Mission.
There is a better way.
