MAHDI BRAY was an active participant in the civil rights movement in the 1960s, working in coalitions with the Student Non-Violent Coordinating Committee (SNCC), the Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) and other activist groups. He is a Washington, DC, Television and Radio talk-show host and has served as a Political Advisor and Strategist to several national, state, and local political campaigns. He currently serves as a political adviser and is Executive Director of the Muslim American Society Freedom Foundation in Washington, DC and his work is specifically focused on activism for freedom and civil liberties. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the National Interfaith Committee for Worker Justice and the Interfaith Alliance, and also on the Advisory Board of the American Muslim Council and Muslim Public Affairs Council.
