Jamaican PM Calls for South-South Cooperation
Beijing, Jun 24 (Prensa Latina) Jamaican Prime Minister, Percival Patterson, called for the enhancement of south-south relations in a speech at the China-Jamaica Business Forum opened in Shanghai, economic and financial crossroads of this Asian nation.
In that respect, Patterson underlined the willingness of the two governments to work together to achieve prosperity and eradicate poverty.
Shanghai is the third stop on his official visit to China. Patterson travelled to this country for the first time in 1998, soon after taking office.
The Jamaican head of government has already had talks with President Hu Jintao, prime minister Wen Jiabao, and Wu Banggao, National Assembly president.
China and Jamaica signed on Monday several cooperation agreements in science, technology, education and the mining industry.
Both countries established diplomatic relations in 1972.
