today at the common ground clinic in Algiers (West Bank, New Orleans) i met with Madeline, a woman who has been single-handedly and heroically rescuing dogs (and some cats) that were left behind in Algiers. This is her list of needs.
The number to reach Madeline if you want to volunteer or help out is 504-442-DOGS (3647)
here are the things she needs most. if you want to donate, send donations to the common ground collective (see http://www.commongroundrelief.org/ )
-new fence for large yard -10x10 outdoor kennels -ivermection -ICC syringes -dog beds (or heavy duty plastic) -heavy duty crates -thick gauge wire -permachle dog wound cleaner -prontline -Advantage -Heartguard -dog houses -heartworm snap tests -paracet -ringworm treatment -pressure washer -belach -money for (currently) 7 neuters and 1 spay needed -money for current debt with local vet ($300)

it is likely that if these pets are not rescued soon, the military will start shooting them as a health hazard, as they are currently roaming the streets unattended.
if anyone is willing to take on a non-neutered pet and take the responsibility of getting it neutered yourself, that could also help. apparently the louisiana humane society is not making a lot of effort to return pets to their owners, or collect these pets from the streets.
(by the way, the common ground collective has unofficially adopted a tiny abandoned kitten - likely birthed right during or after the hurricane, and are feeding it milk with an eyedropper outside the clinic and housing it in a small kennel donated by madeline)
