Data Center 101 - the four fundamental flaws of a traditional data center

What comes into your mind whenever someone mentions the word "data center" to you? No, it's not some fancy term from a game and it's definitely not a secret military base as one would expect from some science fiction novel or movie. Indeed, data centers are the real thing, but they're not as secretive and mysterious as you thought they would be. A data center is a facility where computers and all other peripherals associated with the computer system are placed for efficiency and storage.

Indeed, data centers are the real thing, but they're not as secretive and mysterious as you thought they would be. A data center is a facility where computers and all other peripherals associated with the computer system are placed for efficiency and storage.
Almost all kinds of industries need the power of a data center. Imagine government agencies, corporate headquarters, and othe important industries that need the power of modern-age computing without a data center. You'll most likely have a hard time moving around the facility since all the machineries needed for data processing and storage are really big. This is one important reason why data centers are valuable for all forms of businesses today. If you look at it, it does make sense; if you want your business to gain recognition, you'll need to make sure that information regarding your products or services are spread and stored the right way. You can't expect a telecommunications corporation to have a few computer servers, right? This exact need for data centers is what pushes most entrepreneurs to start investing in data centers.
However, change is inevitable, even with data centers. In the long run, four fatal flaws have been identified for those who invested heavily with traditional data centers:
1. Most traditional data centers take too long to deliver the necessary information needed. This is the first complaint you'll hear from most corporations who rely on the traditional data centers. Within government and service providers, it takes up to two years before a new data center can finish processing everything to come up with the whole procurement process. Because of this, important aspects such as decision making, engineering and analysis, and finally, the commissioning of data is stacked and takes far too long within the data center.
2. The architecture of a traditional data center is insecure and inefficient. When inside a data center, you'll find loads of airconditioning units to cool down the systems which are actually active 24 hours per day, seven days a week. Most traditional data centers rely on automated programs and management systems and most of these systems are not really made for the industrial world.
3. There is also a flaw in the development of traditional data centers. According to research, data centers that were built before weren't as expensive compared today. Generally because construction in the past was very active compared to today, so as a result, construction companies had to give some sort of discount to companies who are planning to make data centers. Today, construction isn't as active as it used to be, which is why contractors can give higher fees to anyone who wishes to build a data center. The same can be held true for machineries.
4. The last flaw when it comes to traditional data centers is the scalability of most machines used. In the past, computers that were used for data centers were usually huge and they take alot of space inside the data center. Therefore, imagine ten or twenty of these computers inside a warehouse or office space. Fortunately, computers of today are now improving when it comes to scalability, thus it would be wiser to invest with new data centers compared to the traditional ones.
