Dawn Collins goes deep into the numbers behind a movement of the white dominated, southern part of Baton Rouge to break away, obstensibly to create and gain local control over a new school district without the "violent" children of Baton Rouge.
"If they breakaway from Baton Rouge, we would have a worse deficit than Detriot had before they declared bankruptcy" --Dawn Collins, SNAP
the funding cuts would result in an 8% funding loss to Baton Rouge Schools, would bring Baton Rouge back to de-segregation litigation.
The move would create a tax revenue crisis for the parish, create a super-majority white area, and may result in the loss of the consolidated government of Baton Rouge. It would also subject the St George area to civil rights litigation.
